Use this worksheet for one workplace in England. Name the nation, the business-wide full-time equivalent employee number at 31 March 2025, the streams you present and the collector's instruction. A missing nation stays waiting. A known workplace in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland is not this page. Completing the row is not an Environment Agency finding and is not proof that waste is actually separated.

Download the blank sheet. The 4–8 week prevention programme stays on the waste-reduction guide. Plan bin locations after the collector’s streams are known. Record the transfer information for each load.

This worksheet is not a compliance notice

One row per workplace. workplace_nation is england, scotland, wales, northern_ireland or missing. Missing nation keeps row_status waiting and applicable_date blank. It is not a confirmed non-England result. A known non-England nation uses row_status not_this_page with a blank England date.

For England, fte_at_commencement is the business-wide full-time equivalent at 31 March 2025, not a later staff list and not one site. Regulation 4 of the Separation of Waste (England) Regulations 2025 adds full-time employees to a fraction for each other employee: hours over the previous twelve weeks, divided by the weeks in which that person worked at least one hour, as a proportion of a full-time contracted week. Write that method in fte_calculation_note. The CSV does not calculate it.

Volunteers, contractors and self-employed workers stay out of that count. Three sites of five employees each are 15, not a micro-firm. micro_firm_until_2027 is yes only when that count is below 10, no when it is 10 or more, and waiting when the count is missing. applicable_date is 2027-03-31 only for a recorded micro-firm, 2025-03-31 for other England workplaces, and is not filled when nation is missing or not_this_page.

dry_recyclables, food_waste and residual_waste are separated, mixed, collector_pending or missing. Food waste stays in scope however little is produced. row_status is waiting, recorded or not_this_page. There is no compliant, inspected or lawful value. A recorded row is applicability, not actual separation.

Defra’s workplace recycling guidance, last updated 3 October 2025, applies to England. You do not register or apply for the micro-firm delay.

England streams, not a UK-wide rule

Dry recyclables are plastic, metal, glass, paper and card as the collector instructs. Food waste is its own stream. Residual waste is separate. The 2025 regulations allow metal, glass and plastic to be collected together. They do not give paper and card that same blanket permission. Where a collector co-collects paper and card, that is the collector’s written assessment, not this workplace’s file.

Ask which containers the collector will take. Compostable or biodegradable packaging is not food waste on this sheet. Caddy liners, including compostable liners, may travel with food waste. Customer and visitor waste is in scope. Completing the sheet is not a contamination inspection.

Save a copy of the blank file and type into the copy. The files are plain CSV with no formulas.

Worked example: Northgate Studio

Northgate Studio is fictional. Completing the rows is not an Environment Agency finding.

What this page does not finish

The 4–8 week prevention programme stays on the waste-reduction guide. The seven-day mixed-stream log stays on the workplace audit. Bin locations stay on the office recycling plan. Written transfer information has its own page. The small-business guide records England dates here. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are not restated as Simpler Recycling.
