Cookies & advertising

Updated .

Advertising helps keep VerdaScope’s guides free to read. Adverts are labelled Advertisement and are separate from our editorial recommendations. An advert is not an endorsement by VerdaScope.

What cookies do

Cookies and similar storage let a service remember information in your browser. When advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use them to remember privacy choices, deliver and measure ads, personalise ads where you agree, and detect invalid traffic. Providers may also process IP addresses and other device identifiers.

The guide search and calculators do not need advertising cookies to work. You can continue to read guides, use tools and download templates if you decline optional advertising purposes.

Your advertising choices

For readers in the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google’s consent message presents the available advertising choices when advertising is enabled. Choose Manage options to review purposes, partners, their policies and storage information, or decline optional purposes using the message’s refusal option.

To revisit your decision, use Privacy & cookie settings in the footer when it is available. If advertising is disabled, the consent service is blocked or no message applies in your region, that control may not be shown. You can also manage or delete cookies in your browser; deleting them may cause the consent message to appear again.

Declining personalisation does not necessarily remove all ads. Depending on your choices and applicable rules, Google may serve non-personalised or limited ads. Non-personalised ads can still use cookies, and limited advertising can involve security and fraud prevention processing. Google explains these modes in its consent management guidance.

Google and other advertising partners

Google and third-party vendors can serve ads based on previous visits to this and other websites, using advertising cookies where permitted. See Google’s advertising technology information, Google’s cookie information, and the vendor links in the consent message.

Additional opt-out tools are available from Google My Ad Center and YourAdChoices. Settings can depend on the device, browser and service you use.

Our approach to placements

Our manual placements keep advertising separate from navigation, download buttons and calculator controls. Advertising does not determine our guide recommendations. See our editorial standards and privacy policy for more information.
