Recyclable packaging claims checklist
Keep composition, format, collection for the claimed audience, and disposal instructions on separate fields. This workplace's collector letter does not make a consumers-UK recyclable claim. Whole-item or 100% wording stays blocked while any relevant component or evidence is missing. Completing the row is not a lawful claim.
Download the blank log. This site’s collector route stays on the packaging sheet. A recycled-plastic percentage is a different claim. Compostable wording is not a recyclable claim. The recyclable-versus-product example stays on the Code page.
Workplace acceptance is not a consumer claim
claimed_audience is consumers_uk, named_local_authority_area, this_workplace or unspecified. collection_location and collection_date name the collection being claimed. item_boundary and components_complete retain the complete claimed item or component boundary.
workplace_collector_accepts is yes, no or not_checked and never copies into consumer_claim_status. An authority name or workplace letter alone is insufficient for a consumers_uk or named-local-authority claim. Named local collection requires matched evidence for that collection and wording limited to it.
consumer_claim_status is unsupported, limited_to_named_collection, missing_collection_evidence or do_not_use. If claimed_audience is consumers_uk and collection evidence is only this workplace’s collector letter, status is missing_collection_evidence.
Do not invent UK-wide access percentages. CAP Code section 11 requires that the basis of environmental claims is clear. Current non-broadcast environmental rules are 11.1 to 11.7; 11.8 and 11.9 were deleted on 24 October 2025.
Recyclability claim log
Save a copy of the blank file and type into the copy. The files are plain CSV with no formulas.
Columns: component_id, item_claimed, item_boundary, components_complete, claim_text, claimed_audience, collection_location, collection_date, material_name, format_note, composition_evidence_location, format_evidence_location, workplace_collector_accepts, workplace_confirmation_reference, consumer_collection_evidence_location, consumer_collection_coverage_note, named_local_collection_evidence_match, disposal_instruction_in_the_claim, consumer_claim_status and note.
A recycled-plastic percentage stays on the recycled-content evidence log. Compostable wording stays on the compostable versus biodegradable sheet. The packaging component sheet remains the site-route file.
Worked example: Northgate mailer
Northgate Services is fictional.
| Item | Workplace collector | Consumer status |
|---|---|---|
| Outer cardboard box, claimed for consumers UK | Letter L-2026-03 accepts cardboard at that site | missing_collection_evidence |
| Inner film labelled recyclable | No | do_not_use |
| Complete mailer, 100% recyclable | Not checked | do_not_use. Components are not complete. No UK-wide access percentage is recorded. |
Limits
This is not an EPR return, not a Plastic Packaging Tax decision, not a US 60-percent test, and not the packaging purchasing sheet. Match compostable or biodegradable wording to a confirmed disposal route.
Your next action
Finish one component row in which workplace acceptance never sets a consumer claim to supported, and whole-item 100% wording stays blocked while components are missing.
